Bulawayo Debate Provincials

the 26th and 27th of May 2012 is a big day for the society. we will be hosted by Bulawayo Polytechnic as we hold our major training for the ZNDC. so far, we understand that there are five institutions which have confirmed their participation which are Lupane State University Debate Society, Bulawayo Polytechnic College, United College of Education, Hillside Teachers College and Gwanda. the finals will be on the 27th where other institutions will have the pleasure of watching Lupane State University Debate Society have their major training while they watch...the road to germany begins...!!!

SPOTLIGHT

CA-F HOSTING A SPOTLIGHT  ON THE 19TH OF APRIL 2012 AT MUSIC ACADEMY "ROBERT SIBSON HALL' - MATOPOS ROAD NEXT TO TRADE FAIR GROUNDS. INVITED SPEAKERS ARE THEMBA NYATHI (POLITICIAN), LOVEMORE MOYO (SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT), DR DUMISO DABENGWA (ZAPU) AND JOSHUA MALINGA (POLITIBURO MEMBER). THIS IS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY FOR LUPANE STATE UNIVERSITY DEBATERS TO INTERACT WITH THEIR LEADERS, IT IS ALSO A PLATFORM FOR DEBATERS TO ASK QUESTIONS AND GET TO UNDERSTAND ISSUES ON NATIONAL GOVERNANCE. THAT'S ALL DEBATERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE SPOTLIGHT...

As community service, Micheal Mhlanga(Debate Finalist, ZNDC 2011) and Pofela Ndzozi (Best Adjudicator at ZNDC 2011) are coaching debate (Karl Popper debating style) to high school debate clubs at Pumula High School, Skys Of GoodHope Secondary School, Sizane High School, Premier High School, Masotsha High School, Amhlophe High School and they are also looking at expanding the program to include boarding schools which have shown the will to be cached debate. The program has also included mini-tournaments and mass trainnings that combined two or more schools in one training session. the year 2012, began with a PDS workshop for the debate presidents which saw Mr Tawanda Chabata (LSUDS President) attending the four day workshop in Victoria Falls. The workshop equipped the president with the necessary skills to train other debate society members. it created links for the society, broadening the spec of debate in Zimbabwe. All the misconceptions were about debate in zimbabwe were cleared by Mr I.B. Ncube, setting the tone for the growth of debate in Zimbabwe.

Currently, the debate society has embarked on operation, "We Are Going To Germany!!!". This entails that the upcoming ZNDC will be dominated by LSUDS and other Institutions that will help the team be prepared for the competitions in Germany *laughing scornfully*. LSUDS will be participating in Openspace workshops conducted by CAF every friday. All progressive debaters are welcome. For more details on training days, WATCH THE SPACE!
