LSUDS at it again!!!


A LUPANE State University (LSU) student, Tinashe Manhope, on Friday scooped an individual speech trophy while a Kushinga/ Phikelela Polytechnic and Marymount Teachers College hybrid team walked away with the relay speech championship in the Zimbabwe Public Speaking Two Level Competition.

The tertiary institutions public speaking challenge held in Bulawayo was facilitated by Contemporary Affairs Foundation (CAF) in partnership with Junior Chamber International (JCI) under the theme "Stand up, Speak up, Own Up."

Nompilo Nkomo broke first and made history within LSUDS as the first rookie to make such a marvelous performance

Lupane State University among the first Zim Universities to send a delegation to WUDC

Lupane State University Debate Society under the support of the University administration has suceessfully participated at the largest debating competition in the world, the Worlds Universities Debating Championship 2013 in Berlin, Germany.

Pofela Ndzozi (Society's vice President), Micheal Mhlanga (Society's Tresurer General, PAUDC Recruitment and Development Officer), Tatenda Muzamindo (Society's Captain), Thabo Dube and Chelesile Ndlovu went to represent the university and the country (Zimbabwe) at the 33rd edition of the Worlds Universities Debating Championship. this was after the team's sterling perfomance at the Zimbabwe National Debate Championship, Mutare 2012, where it won a total of five awards that comprised of, the Best Speaker (Micheal Mhlanga, Treausrer General,  PAUDC Recruitment and Development Officer), Best Perfoming University, Best Overall Perfoming Institution, two semi-finalist (team Gustav and Coolcats) and Public Speaking Finalists (Luther Bajila and Micheal Mhlanga). Ndabezinhle Zondo became the second National best speaker and Tawanda Chabata. Team Coolcats (Ndabezinhle Zondo and Micheal Mhlanga (Treasurer General,  PAUDC Recruitment and Development Officer) broke first with a record of 25 points out of a possible 27 points, two more teams from LSUDS were among the top ten teams after the preliminary rounds (team Gustav and Flinstones) and Pofela Ndzozi (vice President) being the ZNDC 2012 Tabmaster, a first in Zimbabwe's debating history.
